We are building two big domes to house different species of tropical native butterflies, whose natural habitat is under threat. The Bolivian Yungas is home to over 2,000 butterfly species, one of the highest concentrations in the world. It will be the first butterfly house to be situated within the Bolivian tropics at 1100 meters above sea level. And Butterfly Sky will be home to over 300 butterflies from 40 species. A vast number of plant varieties will be planted and used to keep the butterflies fed.

The mission of Butterfly Sky is to conserve native butterflies and their habitats through passion, education and conservation. Ultimately the butterflies will be freed from the domes to repopulate the area.

Butterfly Sky will exist to foster an appreciation of invertebrates by inspiring the public about the need to protect and care for threatened habitats locally and globally, while conducting real actions and research for solutions in invertebrate conservation.
